At Dixons City Academy, our Performing Arts department is a vibrant hub of creativity, talent, and opportunity. From acting and singing to dance and musical theatre, our students are encouraged to explore their passions, build confidence, and perform to the highest standards.
We’re proud to have built a strong reputation for our spectacular productions, recent highlights include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wizard of Oz, and Macbeth. Each show brings together students from across the academy, showcasing their teamwork, professionalism, and artistic flair.
Our commitment to excellence continues long after our students leave us. Many of our Performing Arts alumni go on to achieve incredible success on stage and screen, performing in major theatre productions, West End shows, and even global franchises such as The Hunger Games.

Notable Alumni
Aiya Agustin has enjoyed remarkable success at a young age, building an impressive career across both stage and screen. She appeared in Matilda the Musical in London's West End and reprised her involvement in the much-loved story through the film adaptation, showcasing her talent to audiences around the world.
Aiya's career continues to flourish as she currently stars as Rue in the London production of The Hunger Games: On Stage, bringing one of the series' most beloved characters to life for theatre audiences.
Elliot Broadfoot has built an exciting career in the performing arts since leaving Dixons City Academy. A graduate of Leeds Conservatoire, he has appeared in a range of acclaimed theatre productions, including Kathy & Stella Solve a Murder!, Romeo & Juliet, I Should Be So Lucky and Cats.
Benson Taylor is an award-winning composer, producer and humanitarian from Bradford whose music has featured in major film and television productions, including London Fields, Chick Fight, Orange Is the New Black and The Big Bang Theory. After studying composition at UCLA, he established an international career spanning Hollywood, television and music production.
Alongside his creative achievements, Benson is recognised for his extensive charitable work and was awarded an honorary doctorate for services to music and humanitarian causes. His journey from Bradford to the global stage is an inspiring example of how talent, dedication and ambition can lead to exceptional success.
Gareth Gates is one of Dixons City Academy’s most successful alumni, rising to national fame as runner-up on the first series of Pop Idol in 2002 before becoming one of the UK's best-selling pop artists. With multiple number-one singles, more than 3.5 million record sales, and a successful transition into musical theatre, Gareth has starred in major productions including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Les Misérables. His achievements in music, theatre and advocacy work have made him an inspiration to aspiring performers, demonstrating how talent, determination and resilience can lead to an outstanding career in the arts.
Bethany Gregory has built a successful career in the performing arts since graduating with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Professional Musical Theatre Performance. A respected performer, vocal coach and arts leader, she regularly appears as a professional vocalist across the North, with credits including Principal Vocalist in The Annual Yorkshire Christmas Spectacular and The Best of the West End Dinner Show. Her notable stage roles include Ursula in The Little Mermaid, Mrs Bucket/Mrs Teavee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Carlotta Guidicelli in The Phantom of the Opera, Jennyanydots in Cats and Fräulein Schneider in Cabaret. Alongside her performing career, Bethany is a Vocal Teacher at Dixons City Academy and a Lecturer in Voice at Leeds Conservatoire, as well as Principal of Upstagers Academy in Ilkley, where she continues to inspire and develop the next generation of performers.
Bradley Johnson has built an impressive acting career since leaving Dixons City Academy, becoming best known for his role as Vinny Dingle in ITV's Emmerdale. Having begun acting at a young age, he has appeared in a range of television and film productions, including When Did You Last See Your Father?, Shameless and Harriet's Army. Bradley's journey from Bradford to a long-running role in one of Britain's most popular television dramas is a testament to his talent, dedication and perseverance, and serves as an inspiration to aspiring performers across our school community.
Hannah Wheatley has forged an exciting path in the performing arts since leaving Dixons City Academy. As a member of the National Theatre Youth programme, she developed her skills alongside other talented young performers, gaining valuable experience in professional theatre.
Hannah went on to perform in the West End production of Legend Trippers, where she played Phoebe, before securing a place at the prestigious Emil Dale Academy to continue her professional training.
