Consultation on changes to admissions policy
The Academy is consulting upon changes to its Admissions Policy from September 2020. Please click on the download below to view the proposal and details of how comments can be made. The consultation lasts until Friday 25th January 2019.
Year 7 intake in September 2019
The deadline for submission of completed supplementary forms was 3.30pm on Monday 24th September 2018. Any forms received by the deadline will be processed and those children will be invited to sit the non-verbal reasoning assessment. Applications received after this deadline will go onto a waiting list to be considered after those who applied by the deadline.
Mailing list for Year 7 – September 2020
We start to accept details onto a mailing list from when children commence Year 5 at primary school. To register your interest, please send the following information in writing via a letter or e-mail to:
c/o Dixons McMillan Academy
Child's full name, date of birth, present school and home address
Name of parent/carer
Address of parent/carer, if different to the child's address
Contact telephone number
On receipt of this information, you will receive a confirmation e-mail or letter advising you that the details have been added to the mailing list. Information about the admissions process will then follow at the end of July 2019 (i.e. the end of Year 5).
Details of our current admissions arrangements are given in the Admissions & Appeals Policy which can be found in the 'Policies' section of our website. Please note that the Policy relates only to the admission year stated on the document and is subject to change in future years.
In-year admissions (Years 7 to 11)
Dixons City Academy is a very popular school and, consequently, a vacancy is only likely to occur if a child leaves the year group, which does not happen very often.
Should you wish to enquire about vacancies, please telephone or write to Admissions (via the contact details given above) with the information required (above). You may also wish to include the reasons for applying. A written confirmation will be sent to you to advise what the current situation is.
Because we are part of a coordinated admission scheme, you also need to complete an In-Year Application Form for the local authority in order to be eligible for a place if a vacancy occurs.
Where vacancies do occur, we look at the waiting list for children who are in the same ability band as the child who is leaving. The random allocation process is run and children are prioritised in accordance with the oversubscription criteria (see Admissions and Appeals Policy in the ‘Policies’ section of the website). We send this list to the local authority and they then allocate the place in the order of the waiting list and in line with parental preference (as specified on the In-Year Application Form).
Post 16 (sixth form) admissions
The recruitment process has now been completed, offer and rejection letters have been sent out.
Late applications will be considered after the GCSE results day, an on-line form will be available on the website on Friday 24 August 2018.
