Performing Arts assessment

Dixons City Academy has a specialism in performing arts and, consequently, it can offer up to 10% of places (18 places) each academic year to children applying for a Year 7 place.

These places are aimed at those children who demonstrate a gifted aptitude in Music and/or Drama and children will be required to actively participate in the workshops in order to be considered for a place.

In order to be invited to the performing arts assessment, parents need to complete the Performing Arts page of the supplementary form and the form needs to be submitted by the deadline date. For entry into Year 7 in September 2023 the deadline is 3.30pm on Monday 26 September 2022.

Dates for performing arts assessment

For entry into Year 7 in September 2023, performing arts assessments will be held on Thursday 20 & Friday 21 October 2022. Applicants will attend for up to half a day on one of these dates.

A letter advising families of the preparation their child needs to take for the solo audition is being posted on Friday 30 September 2022. Parents will need to confirm that their child is still interested in attending the workshops, and if opted for the audition, in order to be given an appointment date and time.

Once parents have confirmed their child's interest, the date and time to attend will be advised by e-mail or letter. If you have not received the information by Tuesday 11 October, please contact Admissions by:

Drama auditions

Applicants who chose the Drama audition on the application form will be sent a copy of the monologue and information on how to prepare for their Drama audition. A copy of the monologue can also be found in the Downloads section below.

Music auditions

Applicants who chose the Music audition on the application form will be sent a copy of the instructions advising them how to prepare for their Music audition. A copy of the instructions can also be found in the Downloads section below.

Drama and Music workshops

There is no advance preparation required for the workshops.
