Performing Arts assessment

Dixons City Academy has a specialism in performing arts and, consequently, it can offer up to 10% of places (18 places) each academic year to children applying for a Year 7 place.

These places are aimed at those children who demonstrate a gifted aptitude in Music and/or Drama and children will be required to actively participate in the workshops in order to be considered for a place.

In order to be invited to the performing arts assessment, parents need to complete the supplementary form, including the performing arts section, and the form needs to be submitted by the deadline date. For entry into Year 7 in September 2025 the deadline is 3.30pm on Monday 30 September 2024.

Dates for performing arts assessment

For entry in September 2025, performing arts assessments will be held on Thursday 17 & Friday 18 October 2024. Applicants will attend for up to half a day on one of these dates.

Information advising families of the preparation their child needs to take for the performing arts assessments will be sent by e-mail on Wednesday 2 October 2024. Parents will need to reply and confirm that their child is still interested in order to be allocated a session date and time.

Once parents have confirmed their child's interest, the date and time to attend will be advised by e-mail. If you have not received the information by Monday 7 October, please contact Admissions by:

Drama auditions

Applicants who chose the Drama audition will be sent information on how to prepare for their Drama audition and a copy of the monologue as part of the information sent by e-mail on 2 October. A copy of this information will be published on this page nearer to the date.

Music auditions

There is no advance preparation required for the workshops.
