Year 9 Students Selected for Unique Environmental Leadership Programme

Posted 15th October 2026

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of Hafsa, Maira and Zara in Year 9, who have been selected through Football for Peace's Bradford Peace Centre to take part in Bradford Culture Company's Meet the Peat environmental workshops.

The students were chosen from the Bradford Peace Centre's football development and youth empowerment programme and will have the opportunity to develop as young environmental stewards, supporting community initiatives linked to sustainability and environmental awareness.

Delivered in partnership with Bradford Culture Company, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Yorkshire Peat Partnership, the workshops will connect young people with local landscapes through hands-on exploration and creative activities. Participants will visit locations including St Ives and Ilkley Moor, where they will learn about peatland restoration, biodiversity, carbon capture and the importance of protecting natural habitats.

Alongside developing their environmental knowledge, the students will build valuable teamwork, leadership and communication skills while working with other young people from across the district.

All participants will receive certificates and recognition for their contribution to the programme. We are incredibly proud of Hafsa, Maira and Zara and look forward to hearing about their experiences and the positive impact they will make through this exciting opportunity.
