Regrettably, because of the high number of applications it has not been possible to offer every child, who wants one, a place. We automatically keep every child's name on the waiting list until the end of December 2020. You are advised to return the local authority's Waiting List form (available from the downloads section below) to inform them if you want to stay on the waiting list for this or any other school.

If you have any specific questions about the waiting list or admissions process, please contact us via the details given below.

Year 7 intake in September 2021

We start to accept details onto a mailing list from when children commence Year 5 at primary school. To register your interest, please send the following information in writing via a letter or e-mail to:

Address: Admissions, c/o Dixons McMillan Academy, Trinity Road, Bradford, BD5 0JD

E-mail: admissions@dixonsca.com

Telephone: 01274 423134 or 01274 423127

Information required:

  • Child’s full name, date of birth, present school and home address
  • Name of parent/carer
  • Address of parent/carer, if different to the child's address
  • Contact telephone number

On receipt of this information, you will receive a confirmation in writing advising you that the details have been added to the mailing list. Information about the admissions process will then follow at the end of July 2020 (i.e. the end of Year 5).

Details of our current admissions arrangements are given in the Admissions & Appeals Policy (see Downloads section below). Please note that the Policy relates only to the admission year stated on the document and is subject to change in future years.

More information about the Academy is available on this website, but if you are unable to find the information you need then please ring the main Academy number: 01274 776777

In-year admissions (Years 7 to 11)

Dixons City Academy is a very popular school and, consequently, a vacancy is only likely to occur if a child leaves the year group which rarely happens.

Should you wish to add your child to the waiting list, please telephone or write to Admissions (via the contact details given above) with the information required (see list above). You may also wish to include the reasons for applying. A written confirmation will be sent to you to confirm that we have added the details to our waiting list.

You will also need to complete an In-Year Common Application Form (ICAF) for the local authority in order to be eligible for a place if a vacancy occurs. The ICAF and more information about the process is available from www.bradford.gov.uk/education-... or you can request for a form to be sent to you by e-mailing: schooladmissions@bradford.gov.uk or by telephoning 01274 439200.

If a vacancy does occur, we will look at the waiting list for children who are in the same ability band as the child who is leaving. The random allocation process will be run and children will be prioritised in accordance with the oversubscription criteria (see Admissions and Appeals Policy in the Downloads section below). We send this list to the local authority and they then allocate the place in the order of the waiting list and in line with parental preference (as specified on the ICAF).

Sixth form

The sixth form (Post 16) at Dixons City Academy will close in Summer 2020. Applicants who wish to study in a Dixons school for sixth form can apply to the new Dixons Sixth Form Academy via their website: www.dixons6a.com
