The national offer date for Year 7 school places is Friday 1 March 2024. Parents who completed the local authorities Common Application / Preference Form will be advised by the local authorities of the school allocated to their child on this date.

For Dixons City, there were 876 applications via the supplementary form (where children completed the assessment) for the 180 places available. The breakdown of places by stanine band and by oversubscription criteria is as follows:

* An additional 4 places have been allocated above the admission number of 180, due to the Academy being named for 4 children with an EHCP, late in the process. These allocations are, consequently, outside of the banding arrangements.

** One of the children allocated a PA place, has also qualified under a higher oversubscription criterion.

A further 538 preferences were made for the Academy but those children did not sit the assessment.

Regrettably, because of the high number of applications it has not been possible to offer every child, who wants one, a place. We automatically keep every child's name on the waiting list until the end of December 2024, but you should also return the local authority’s Waiting List form to inform them if you want to stay on the waiting list for this or any other school. A copy of the form is available from the Downloads section below.

If you have not yet completed a local authority Common Application Form (CAF) you should complete the Late Y7 application form available in the Downloads section below. If you completed a CAF but did not make 5 preferences, then you can complete the Y7 Additional Preference form, also available in the Downloads section below.

If you have any specific questions about the waiting list or admissions process, please contact us via:

Mailing list for Year 7 – September 2025

The Academy starts to accept details onto a mailing list from when children commence Year 5 at primary school. The form to register your interest can be found here.

Entry onto the mailing list is not a guarantee of a place. We will simply use the information provided for the mailing list to inform you when the supplementary form is available to complete in July 2024.

The admissions & appeals policy for the academic year 2025-2026 can be found below. Further details about the process to apply to start in September 2025 will appear on this page in July.

In-year admissions (Years 7 to 11)

Dixons City Academy is a heavily oversubscribed school, and a vacancy is only likely to occur if we drop below the admission number, which very rarely happens.

To apply, you will need to complete an In-Year Common Application Form (ICAF) for the local authority in order to be eligible for a place if a vacancy occurs. The ICAF and more information about the process is available from the council website or you can request for a form to be sent to you by e-mailing: schooladmissions@bradford.gov.uk or by telephoning 01274 439200.

If a vacancy does occur, the Academy will look at the waiting list and children will be prioritised in accordance with the oversubscription criteria in the Admissions & Appeals policy 2023-24 (available from the Downloads section below). We send this list to the local authority, and they then allocate the place in the order of the waiting list and in line with parental preference (as specified on the ICAF).

Should you have any questions about the admissions process, please e-mail: admissions@dixonsca.com or telephone: 01274 089780 – option 7

Sixth form

The sixth form (Post 16) at Dixons City Academy closed in Summer 2020. Applicants who wish to study in a Dixons school for sixth form can apply to the new Dixons Sixth Form Academy via their website: www.dixons6a.com
