Year 7 intake in September 2027
The Academy operates a fair banding assessment as part of its admissions process. To apply for a child to start Year 7 in September 2027, please click here to access the online supplementary information form which is used to enter your child for the assessment. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. The deadline for the supplementary form is 3.30pm on 30 September 2026.
Performing arts places
In addition to the fair-banding assessment, the Academy can allocate up to 18 places for children with an aptitude / talent for performing arts (drama and music). If your child wishes to apply for a performing arts place, you should complete the Performing Arts section of the supplementary form. Further information about the performing arts process can also be found here.
If you are unable to complete the online form, you can download a supplementary form from the Downloads section at the bottom of the page. Paper forms can also be requested by e-mailing: admissions@dixonsca.com or by telephoning Admissions on 01274 089780 – option 7.
Exceptional medical or social need and Children of staff criteria
If you wish to apply under the above criteria, please read this guidance document for further information and a link to the separate application form. The deadline for applications is 31 October 2026. This form is required in addition to the supplementary form (see above).
All applicants will also need to complete the local authority (council) common application form (CAF) and name the Academy as a preference on that form. More information about the application process and a link to the form can be found on Bradford Council’s website in September. If you live outside of the Bradford area, you will need to apply via your own local authority’s website. The deadline for the CAF is 31 October 2026.
The published admission number (PAN) for this Academy is 180. If the Academy receives more applications than there are places available, applications will be ranked in the order of the oversubscription criteria (see table below). Full details of the admissions arrangements, including the criteria, please read the Admissions and Appeals Policy 2027-28 and the Dixons City & Dixons Kings guidance 2027 (available from the Downloads section below).

In-year admissions (Years 7 to 11)
The funding agreement for the academy dictates how many students it is funded for in total. The Academy plans its operations such as staffing, timetabling, and provision of resources based on the funding received; this equates to the following provision:
There are 180 places in each of the year groups 7 to 11.
If a child is refused a place, this is because admission of another child would prejudice the provision of efficient education or the efficient use of resources.
Where vacancies occur, places are not offered based on the length of time children have been on the list but are filled in coordination with the local authorities and in line with the oversubscription criteria. It is, therefore, possible that a child may be added to the list who qualifies more highly within the criteria than children already on the list because each time a child is added, the list will be ranked again in line with the published oversubscription criteria. Looked-after children, previously looked-after children, and those allocated a place at the Academy in accordance with a Fair Access Protocol take precedence over those on a waiting list.
Applications should be made on Bradford local authority’s ‘In Year Common Application Form’ (ICAF) which is available from the website. The form needs to be submitted directly to the local authority. On receipt of the form, the local authority will process this and then write to you with the outcome.

Mailing list for Year 7 – September 2028
Dixons start to accept details onto a mailing list from when children commence Year 5 at primary school. Information on how to register interest will be published here in September 2026.
Entry onto the mailing list is not a guarantee of a place. We will simply use the information provided for the mailing list to inform you when the supplementary form is available to complete in July 2027.
Details of our current admissions arrangements are given in the Admissions & Appeals Policy (see Downloads section below). Please note that the Policy relates only to the admission year stated on the document and is subject to change in future years.
