Appointment of Teacher of Music – Dixons Allerton Academy

Thank you for showing an interest in the post of Teacher of Music at Dixons Allerton Academy.

The Sponsor is an outstanding, high-performing local school, Dixons City Academy, Bradford. We want to appoint to the post of Teacher of Music for the new Academy for September 2009 (subject to funding agreement). This post has been created as a result of the expansion of the creative arts faculty. The Academy will open in existing Rhodesway School buildings on 1 September 2009, with new buildings planned for 2011. The Academy will be 11-18 with places for 1,200 11-16 students plus 240 Post-16.

Rhodesway School has made significant improvements over the last few years and has been out of special measures for over a year. The opening of the new Academy will provide a further step-change on this improvement journey, and an opportunity to transform the life-chances of its students and make it the first choice school of its local community.

In order to deliver the vision for the Academy, we need to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Music who will not only share our enthusiasm, aspirations and commitment but also bring to the post the desire and energy to raise standards for all our students.

You will be aware that the Academy programme enables us to challenge current ways of doing things and requires us to make a step-change in the opportunities available to the young people in the community. The Academy will have a strong focus on raising standards and the expectations of all students.
