MY FIRST YEAR is school life as you've never seen it before; a groundbreaking and ambitious mix of observational documentary, musical drama and animation which tells the story of the new kids at Dixons City Academy in Bradford, as they enter their first year of secondary school life.

Through twelve episodes covering every aspect of pre-teen life - from finding  a new best friend to first love, bullying, the school talent show and the end of term disco - we get inside the hearts and minds of our kids, seeing their world through their eyes.  Each episode tells a different story, with the kids' hopes, dreams, fears and fantasies played out in animated sequences and specially-composed songs.The result: a funny, warm, emotionally true and visually stunning series which brings to life the innermost thoughts and feelings of young people as never before.
