Applying for entry into Year 7

We accept applicant details when children commence Year 5 at primary school, up until the closing date for Admissions (please refer to the Admissions Guidance Document for full details concerning admissions).

To register your child, please send the following information to us in writing via a letter, e-mail ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or fax (01274 391928), marked 'FAO Admissions Secretary':

  • Full name, date of birth, present school and home address of your child
  • Name of parent(s)/guardian(s)
  • Address of parent(s)/guardian(s), if different to the child’s address
  • Contact telephone number

On receipt of this information you will receive a confirmation letter advising you that the details have been added to the relevant database list.

Please note that to apply for Dixons City Academy you must also name the school on the Common Preference Form issued by the local authority.

(Note - the information given on the Guidance for Admissions and Admissions Policy documents only relates to the next admissions year, and is subject to change in future years.)

In-Year admissions

Dixons City Academy is a very popular school and consequently vacancies only occur infrequently within all of the year groups.

Should you wish to enquire about vacancies, please write to the Academy addressing your letter to the Head of Year and specify the year for which you are enquiring e.g. Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 etc.  A reply will be sent to you to advise what the current situation is.  Please include the following information:

  • Full name, date of birth, present school and home address of your child
  • Name of parent(s)/guardian(s)
  • Address of parent(s)/guardian(s), if different to the child’s address
  • Contact telephone number

Where vacancies do occur, replacements are made on a 'like-for-like' basis e.g. with a child of the same profile in terms of ability and by random allocation, in line with the School Admissions Code.

You also need to complete an In-Year Application Form with Education Bradford in order to be eligible for a place if a vacancy occurs; children will only be placed on the waiting list once we have had confirmation from Education Bradford that the In-Year form has been returned to them.

In-Year forms are available by telephoning the Admissions Team on 01274 385967 or by downloading it from their website:  www.educationbradford.com (click on School Support Services on the red bar at the top of the screen, click on the ‘Admissions’ link down the left hand side of the screen and scroll down to ‘click here to download the In-Year Application Form and guidance notes’).
